What is Closed Captioning?
Closed Captioning is a Web Player feature that displays a real-time English text transcript of your event's audio, making your streams more accessible to viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing, watching without sound, or following along in a noisy environment. Captions appear on both live streams and their recordings, and viewers can customize how captions look to suit their preferences.
Closed Captioning is automatically enabled on all new live events going forward — no setup required on your end. It works across every event type and applies to both the live stream and the recording afterward.
Please note:
- Closed Captioning applies only to events created after the feature's release (4/27/26). Events scheduled or recorded before that date will not have captions available.
- Each viewer's caption settings are controlled independently — turning captions on or adjusting their appearance only affects that viewer's experience.
For Viewers
Captions are off by default. To turn them on, viewers can:
- Open the Web Player menu
- Toggle Closed Captioning on
- Adjust the appearance to their liking, including: font, font size, font color, and background color
Captions are currently available in English.
