What is a private event?
A Private Event is a record-only option designed for situations where you don't need live streaming capabilities. Your event will be recorded, but no live viewing link will be generated - meaning no one can watch in real-time, even with a password.
This option is ideal for creating archival content, internal recordings, or events where you only need the final video file for later use or distribution.
You can designate an event as private during the event scheduling process or after an event has gone live. Once the recording is complete, you'll have access to download the video file directly from your Dashboard Content Library.
If you'd still like to create a restricted stream instead of only a recording, read this article instead.
How do I create a private event?
-
From your Dashboard, navigate to the Event Schedule tab and click on the Add New Event button.
Go through your standard event creation process. Once you get to Step 4 of the scheduling flow, you'll see the Streaming Options section. Scroll down to the Private Event section.
Select the Record Only button.
You're all set!
Managing your password in the Content Library: Past Events
If your event has already finished, you can make a previously streamed event Private. When a recording is set to Private, it will not appear on the Profile Page's archive. Follow these steps to learn how to do this.
-
From your Dashboard, navigate to the Content Library -> Library tab and click on the video you wish to edit. In this example we see a lock icon on the video thumbnail, meaning this video already has a password.
-
Once you've clicked into the video, click the Privacy button to edit.
Click the Private button to change the setting to private, or click Public to switch it back to public.
