Our LiveControl videographers are trained to end an event at the natural ending point, even if it is before or after your scheduled ending time. However, there may be times when you would like the end point to be more specific. Read on to learn about the two ending options for specific end times.
A few details on event endings
- What does my Dashboard End Time mean? For Produced Events, the end time you provided when scheduling the event is used to book your videographer for the correct amount of production time.
- What happens if my Produced Event ends early? The videographer is trained to end your event at the natural ending point, even if this is before your scheduled end time. They may continue the stream for a moment or two to ensure the event is truly over.
-
What happens if my Produced Event ends late? The videographer is trained to end your event at the natural ending point, even if this is after the scheduled end time. We build in a 15-minute grace period for events that run long.
- If your event runs longer than 15 minutes past the scheduled end time and the videographer is no longer available (we do our best to keep them on when possible), your Produced Event will be turned to a Static Event (single camera, no videographer). If the event runs more than 15 minutes over, you can assume that the service is now a Static Event and your team will be responsible for ending the service on the Dashboard (see Option 2 below for instructions).
- An additional credit may be charged for Produced Events that run longer than the time value of a single credit. If your event runs past the scheduled end time over and above the 15 minutes, you may also be charged a one-time late event ending fee. It's important to schedule events for the full amount of time so as to ensure videographer availability.
Options for ending events
If you would like your event to end at a specific point or time, you have two options:
Speak an audible end cue during your event. Review our guidelines below for more information on this option!
End the event yourself on the Dashboard to override the videographer's choice. See below for detailed instructions on how to do this!
NOTE: This only applies if you would like to specify event end times. If you are okay with our Videographers using their best judgment to end your events, you can disregard this policy.
Option 1: Audio End Cue
🗣️ An audible end cue must be spoken clearly in the microphone. If our Videographers do not hear this audible cue, our Videographers will use their best judgment on when to end your event.
The audible cue must:
Directly address the live stream by using the words “live stream”
Include a “goodbye phrase” (examples below)
Be selected as your ending option in your Production Notes
Here are some example audio cues that will let our Videographers know that they can end the event:
“Thanks to all of you who joined via the live stream and have a great day.”
“To all of you on the live stream, thank you for joining us and we hope to see you again.”
Our Videographers are trained to listen for these cues and will promptly end the event after hearing an end cue.
Option 2: End the event yourself via the Dashboard
🗣️ If you require a specific end cue that does not satisfy our requirements, you always have the option to end the event manually on your Dashboard (this is the only other option when wanting a specific ending time).
Steps to end your event
Open the Event Schedule tab of your dashboard.
Choose the tab called Live Events.
Find the current event you'd like to end.
Click the gear icon and select the Stop Event option to end the event.
You will see a confirmation dialog appear asking if you are sure you want to stop your event. If you click the Stop Event button your event will be ended.
