If there are issues with network stability (stream drops, pixelation, etc.), this typically indicates an issue with the local network or internet connection.
Causes of poor internet connection
The most likely culprits of poor internet connectivity are:
-
Bad cables
-
Old modems / other network equipment
-
Settings on firewalls, routers, etc.
Testing and troubleshooting your internet connection
To identify the source of the instability, you'll need to test network connectivity at each point in the system. Please contact your network administrator / IT staff for help with this type of troubleshooting.
-
Connect a laptop to an empty port in the LiveControl Microtik router. Run a speed test and verify you can reach various websites. Ensure that Wifi is turned off. If everything is satisfactory, then the system should be operational. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
-
Unplug the ethernet cable going into Port 1 of the Microtik from the building LAN (your network) and connect that to the laptop. Run a speed test and verify that you're able to access various websites. Ensure that Wifi is turned off. If everything is satisfactory, then the system should be operational. Otherwise, continue to the next step.

Determine where the network cable is connected in your network and attempt the test again from a different port on the device higher in the chain than the ethernet cable connected to our router. Make sure to use a different cable as well. Continue moving backward in your network running speed tests and verifying connectivity until you find a place where everything is working as it should.
