An unexpected emergency can happen during a live stream. When this occurs, our top priority is maintaining the onsite participants' safety and security.
Does LiveControl have an emergency streaming plan?
Yes. In the event that there is an emergency during a produced event and your team is unable to end the event, our videographers are trained to shut off the stream and report the emergency to our event support team. Please note that this only applies to produced events.
What should my team know about streaming during an emergency?
Produced events are operated by videographers so they are actively monitored throughout the live stream. The LiveControl emergency protocol pertains to produced events only. Other event types (i.e. static events and tests) are not directly monitored by our support staff or videographers, so your team would need to end the event directly via one of the two methods mentioned below.
How can I end the stream?
If your team would like to end an event, you may do so on the Dashboard by selecting the "end event" button. This article has directions on how to end an event from the Dashboard. Alternatively, you may unplug the ethernet cable from the LiveControl encoder, as this will cut the live stream but keep the video recording locally on the encoder (emergency situations only).
Is there a recording made?
Yes. In the event of an emergency, we will record a wide static shot and stop the stream. We keep recording if needed for reference later.
Can we turn off chat mid-live stream?
At this time, you cannot turn off chat yourself in the Dashboard. We do have an automated moderating system that will flag and disable inappropriate phrases/users. To disable the chat, call our team and we can manage that process for you.
