To start your first mobile stream, your event needs to be scheduled in the Dashboard first. If you need assistance with scheduling, check out this article here.
Before you get started
- Ensure the LiveControl: Mobile Streaming app is installed on your device
- Check that your user account has both Manage/Edit and View Events permissions turned on in the Dashboard
- Verify that your event is scheduled on the Dashboard at least 15 minutes ahead of event time
- Begin streaming at any time on the day the event is scheduled to take place
-
Stop the stream as early as you'd like, or keep streaming past the end time for up to 60 minutes
- Ensure your device is horizontal when streaming
Steps to start your first mobile stream
1. Set up your Equipment: About 15 minutes before the event start time, set up your tripod and your device. Position the equipment so that it's generally facing the direction where you'd like to stream, taking care that no people will block the view. The device should be in a horizontal or landscape position.
2. Open the LiveControl App on your Device: Launch the LiveControl App and login with your Dashboard credentials (If you set up the app previously, you'll get automatically logged in). You'll then see a list of Today's Events for all locations (events starting after "today" do not appear).
*Note - If you have multiple Mobile App locations, you may select a specific location to filter the list of events for that location only. Click the Settings icon in the bottom right, click into the Location menu, and then select the location where your stream is scheduled. When you return to the Schedule tab, you'll see only the streams scheduled for the location selected.
3. Accept Permissions: If this is the first Mobile App Event you've completed on this device, you'll be prompted to accept a few permissions. Please accept these permissions as we will need access to your Camera and Microphone to record your event, and access to your Camera Roll to save a recording of your event.
- Camera Permissions: Please press OK on this screen
- Microphone Permissions: Please press OK on this screen
- Camera Roll Permissions: Please press Allow Access to All Photos on this screen.
4. Get Ready to Stream: Select Enter Event on the Today's Events list.
5. Check your Connection: At the top of the device, make sure the message says Connected - Ready to Stream so that you can ensure the phone is connected to the internet and the app is ready to start streaming.
6. Start Streaming: If you are ready to start streaming, press the green play button and your stream will start.
- Once the stream has started, you will see that the green play button has changed to a red stop button.
- Additionally, at the top you should see a "LIVE" indicator including a counter with the elapsed time.
- If you run into connection issues, read our Troubleshooting Guide.
7. End the Stream: When you're ready to end the stream, first select the red stop button.
Next, select "Yes, I'm Done Streaming".
*Note - By selecting "No, Keep Streaming", the stream will continue uninterrupted.
Next, choose "End Event".
Finally, confirm "End Event". Once you select this option, the stream has officially ended. To re-start the stream, a new event will need to be created on a new link.
*Note - By selecting "Cancel" instead of "End Event", you will have the option to resume the stream. Following these steps will cause the stream to stop then re-commence on the same link.

No Service:
- First, you may connect to a local wifi network (iOS device audio only) if available.
- If a wifi network is not available, you will need to forgo the live stream and opt to record the event directly on the device instead (iOS device audio only). Follow the Record Only instructions here.
Congratulations, you have now completed a live stream with the Mobile App!
