What is the LiveControl Chat and Viewer List?
The LiveControl Chat allows your audience to chat with each other in real-time. The viewer list enables viewers to see who else is watching with them.
How do I use the Chat and Viewer List?
Step by Step Instructions
- Begin by logging into your customer dashboard and navigating to your Event Schedule.
- Go through the standard event scheduling flow. See this article for directions on how to schedule a Produced Event and this article for directions on how to schedule a Static Event.
- As you go through the event scheduling flow, there will be a toggle for Live Chat and Show Viewers.
- If you'd like these options enabled, keep them toggled on (blue checkmark). If you'd like to disable them, click the toggle back to the off position (white).
- When you're ready, click Continue or Finish at the bottom of the page to finalize your event.

These options can be toggled on per event during the Event Scheduling flow:
If Show Viewers is enabled, during the event, your viewers will be able to see who else is watching the event and connected to the chat as shown below. Only active viewers will appear in the Viewers list on the web player. Please note that viewers who do not register by signing into the chat (or by registering via the event registration feature) are not shown in the list. FAQ
Does Chat need to be toggled on for Viewer Registration or Show Viewers to work?
It needs to be on to Show Viewers, but does not need to be on for Event Registration. Learn more about Event Registration in this article.
Who appears in Show Viewers?
Web player users who have either registered via the Chat or via Event Registration (if this feature was turned on before the event). The Show Viewers list will only show live viewers, or people that are actively on the web player. After the event, the list of Viewers may be downloaded in the Library via the Export button.
What if our team would like to remove someone from the Chat, what do we do?

Can I download the Chat after the event?
Not at this time. However, you may review the Chat when you rewatch the event on the web player.
Does the Chat appear in the download after the fact?
It does not.
Can I turn the Chat off mid-event?
No. The Chat must be turned on or off during the scheduling process, before the event goes live.
What do I do if someone is saying inappropriate things on the Chat?
Our system automatically moderates the Chat and should flag any inappropriate words or phrases, however you're welcome to reach out to Support@livecontrol.io to address this further.
Is there a Chat moderator feature for our team?
Not at this time.
